Todah Raba!!
Dor Chadash-LA would like to thank its volunteers for their tremendous help in thinking, planning, organizing and running our past events. Dor Chadash is utterly grateful to all of you who make DCLA happen.
An Intimate Evening with Idan Raichel - May 11, 2010

When presented with the project of producing a professional, live interview show with Idan Raichel, Karen Trachtenberg and Karen Wloch jumped at the idea of co-chairing this event. From finding the perfect theater, to buying the wine and cheese, and setting it all up and all the little logistics in between, Karen and Karen worked as an amazing team to make this event the success it was. (Of course, we're sure the little crush they have on Idan had nothing to do with their enthusiasm). In all seriousness, Karen and Karen stepped up to the plate and worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was attended to.
On a separate note, we would also like to thank our incredible interviewers, Ayala Ben-Yehuda and Daniel Housman for the fantastic job they did. Their interview skills were what created a fun, enlightening, and revealing conversation with Idan Raichel. Their extensive research and preparation for this interview did not go unnoticed and we extend a deep and sincere appreciation for the professional job they did!

Lag Ba'Omer Israeli-style... Kmo Ba'Aretz! - May 2, 2010

Who thought 8 hours at the beach could go by so quickly! A big thanks to Oran Schachter and Liron Shiri for working so hard to put on an exceptional and fun Lag Ba’Omer event. One only needed to look around and see all the smiling, happy faces around the bonfire to know what a great event this was. From all the pre-planning and logistics, to building the tent and lugging the fire wood and all the snacks to the beach, not to mention working the taboon, their work was so appreciated and came together to make a truly memorable and fantastic Lag Ba’Omer! Are you ready for the sequel?

Yom Ha'Atzmaut Party! - April 24, 2010
At 9:00am on Saturday morning, many Dor Chadashers woke up to a text message from Shanee Feig letting us know that she went to downtown and was THRILLED to have finally found a place to buy the squeaking hammers! This is how far Shanee went to make this event Israeli-style. Undertaking alone an event of this magnitude is quite challenging, but she did everything she could to make it unforgettable. She took time away from her busy job (we won’t tell!) to plan, shop and make this event the success it was. Thank you Shanee for putting your heart and soul into this great event! A koolooloosh for her!!

Yom Ha’Zikaron - April 18, 2010

The Yom Ha’Zikaron event was quite the undertaking for us as a new organization in Los Angeles. It was so important for us to really do this event properly as the eyes of nearly the entire young Jewish professionals' community were on us. To say that we succeeded would be an understatement. Our Yom Ha’Zikaron event touched people in a way that they will likely remember for years to come while honoring our fallen soldiers with the utmost respect. Yafit Josephson and Oren Rehany worked tirelessly, and with incredible passion, to create and produce this phenomenal event. They painstakingly translated word for word from Hebrew to English the story of every fallen soldier that was submitted to us. They combined images, music and text into a beautiful and respectful symphony of sight and sound to honor our fallen brothers and sisters. When something wasn’t perfect, Oren and Yafit worked on it until it was. The end result of the work done by them was a ceremony that will be remembered for a long time in the Jewish community and elevated Dor Chadash-LA to a new level.

Dinner With Friends #2 - March 25, 2010
After searching persistently for restaurants to order from, Talya Messeri jumped on the bandwagon providing us (even though she is not an authentic Los Angelina) with a whole document of Kosher restaurants in LA and her personal opinion of each! Who would have thought that this Canadian beauty could become this wealth of information and helpful insights on all aspects of this event! Thank you Talya for being there right when we needed you most!
Daniel Housman was the "brains" behind our interesting dinner topic,
biggest hit of the night! Not only was he able to tie the topic in with our theme, "Passover", but he was able to teach us a thing or two about where names came from and how/why they were changed. He, along with Karen Trachtenberg went over the text revision after revision until our blurb was perfect! Our Dor Chadashers were so impressed with this material, that some of the attendees even took the print-out home with them to show to others! We uploaded it in our stories section for you to have it too!
Even though DWF was over, it stayed on people's mind for a while! Orit Arfa and Ayala Ben-Yehuda were so inspired by it that they decided to write this story and share it with us! Thanks girls!

RITA -Exclusive Reception and Concert- March 21, 2010

One person took care of the reception and the other, the interview. These two dedicated women made it happen so easily that all the sophistication of the evening looked so friendly and natural. Yafit Josephson got ready to perform while Tamar Sarid took care of the backstage details. Yafit picked carefully all the questions to be asked to the Israeli diva; Tamar brought a broom all the way to Thousand Oaks. Nooo! She drove there!! (you, people!) She just took it to make sure we left the room impeccable. This is the kind of detailed oriented people we have in Dor Chadash-LA! Meeting Rita was as good as her amazing concert. Thank you girls!

Dinner with Friends - January 21, 2010
This past January was the first DCLA Dinner with Friends event. This evening was led by Maia
Budnero who did a fantastic job of introducing the LA community to a successful Dor Chadash program that has being going on in New York for a while now. This is an intimate night where you can meet new friends while discussing different issues within the DCLA community. Dinner with Friends was so popular the first time, we have just planned a series for the rest of the year. Todah!

AJAMI - January 7, 2010

Inaugurating the Dor Chadash-LA movie series, Consul Shachar Azani joined us to present the Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Film, AJAMI. Lemor Goldfarb and Ori Neidich gave the Israeli film and directors the red carpet they deserved. They didn't take the Oscar, but they got the royal treatment with DCLA, and more than three open-mic-minutes to talk, share their views and experiences in the long process of the making of the film. It was a great way to start the year - with an Israeli movie and good friends! Lemor and Ori even printed out directions to go to the bar for the after party!

Light My Fire! -Dor Chadash First Chanuka Party - December 15, 2009
This kick-off extravaganza was an evening of "firsts" for DCLA. The first party, big event, and official annual Dor Chadash Chanukah party! Liz Berman, Dikla Kadosh and Shlomy Levitan put together the classiest party Los Angeles young professionals have ever seen. At the Beverly Hilton's penthouse, with a perfect view of Los Angeles, the coldest winter night became the hottest of all! "Dress in red to impress" were the instructions we got from them, and without hesitation, the young professionals of LA made sure the room was flaming hot! Even "Let's Dance Company" dancers, directed by our own Kimberly Brown, were wearing red costumes! We lit the Chanukiah as a community and with the presence of Israeli Consul Shachar Azani.

Exclusive Breakfast with Alan Dershowitz - December 7, 2009
It was going to be the first Dor Chadash-LA event. Nobody had ever done or planned anything on this coast yet, but that didn't scare Yael Chotzen who had the courage to plan the first one! She set quite a high standard to match! At The Mark, a large group of young professionals got together to listen to Alan Dershowitz and start a great and inspired week. Monday morning, 8am... that wasn't an excuse to miss it. It was a full house for this first Dor Chadash-LA event! Kol Hakavod!
